This reminds me of “The Fuck-Up” by Arthur Nersesian. I started reading the first chapter standing in the aisle at a Barnes & Noble… several, several hours later I literally gasped as I finished the last page and came back to reality. I had forgotten I was sitting on the floor of an aisle, I’d forgotten I was in a Barnes & Noble at all, in fact I’d forgotten who I was for a while. Leaving the bookstore that day was very disorienting in a great way.
